The Dipstick Study:
Post-COVID-19 in India, the American India Foundation conducted a study across multiple employment sectors. The results highlighted a significant lack of incentives, investment, and awareness regarding Assistive Devices for employing PwDs. Surprisingly, over 90% of companies had no inclusion policy, and fewer than 10% saw hiring PwDs as beneficial. This led to the conception of DI-verse

Creating Inclusive Workplaces:
We identified a need for corporate support in establishing inclusive workplaces. Our efforts in accessible technologies, job portals, and policies aimed to enhance employee awareness. Yet, challenges in implementation and understanding persisted.

Emergence of DI-verse Certification via Hackathons:
Through hackathons that pooled expertise and experiences, DI-verse Certification was born. This certification offers corporations a roadmap to foster inclusive work environments for PwDs

Beginning of 'DI-verse’ Movement:
We set a framework and guidelines for employers to enhance workplace inclusion. With over 28 custodians, we created a unique disability inclusion framework in India, categorising inclusive practices into A, AA, and AAA criteria. This initiative focuses on six key areas: Culture and Leadership, Access, Adjustments & Accommodations, Employment Practices, Community Engagement, Supplier Diversity, Responsible Procurement, and Marketing.

Co-creation of Criteria & National Communication Plan:
Collaborating with thought leaders, we developed criteria and a communication strategy to nationwide promote this actionable approach. DI-verse aims to encourage corporations to adopt inclusive policies, creating a welcoming environment for PwDs.
